CHRIS BRADY'S PASSION
In 1980, Chris Brady dreamed about creating a truly original instrument with the highest quality of craftsmanship to provide the finest sound possible.
A talented arborist, art reproducer, wood technologist and drummer since the age of 13, Chris ventured out from the humble beginnings of his tool shed into the King Jarrah forests of Western Australia and carved himself a world-first.
Since those days, Chris has single-handedly produced not only the world’s first modern solid wood (hollow tree trunk) snare drum, but also pioneered the revolutionary ply shell and block shell systems of manufacture, the Dry Timbre Series wooden lug and the use of many unique indigenous Australian hardwoods in percussive instruments. He also created possibly the world’s first 10-inch, 12-inch and 16-inch snare drums and is credited with their popularization in modern music.
Just as his very first solid wood snare drum was winning praise from musical luminaries, Chris dreamed of the endless possibilities for the future of the instrument by choosing to innovate, not replicate.
That thought became his driving passion. Three decades later, it remains so.
Now, Chris is joined by an astute team comprised of family members and talented craftsmen that refuse to compromise on his vision for original thought, creative energy and unsurpassed craftsmanship to advance the industry.
